WebOct 13, 2009 · Just replaced the heater switch on my 81 CJ-7. Now I'm not a jeep guru by any means, but here's how I did it. Lower the windshield, and remove the dash cover. WebMay 3, 2024 · The heater itself is in the intake manifold under the carburetor. What is pictured here is the thermal switch that operates it. The switch is in the intake manifold's water jacket toward the rear. The green wire goes to a relay that is next to the battery. The red wire you see goes from the relay back to the heater. WebFeb 27, 2008 · The switch sends direct power to the motor on high and sends power to the resistor pack stuck in the plenum right above the fresh air vent on the passenger side for the lower speeds. Some motors do need a ground, it won't hurt to run one just to lessen the load on the stock mesh cable that runs from the engine head to the firewall.
