Biotrophic interfacial complex bic
WebThis project is a continuation of a previously funded USDA-NRI grant (2006-35319-17296), with which we discovered a unique host-pathogen interfacial structure, the Biotrophic Interfacial Complex (BIC), that accumulates effector proteins secreted by blast invasive hyphae (IH) as they invade living host cells. WebMoHTR3 exhibited high conservation in M. oryzae strains but low conservation among other plant-pathogenic fungi, suggesting an emerging evolutionary selection process. MoHTR3 is exclusively expressed in the biotrophic stage of fungal invasion, and the encoded protein localizes to the biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC) and the host cell nucleus.

WebDec 29, 2024 · To date, little is known about the mechanism by which these pathogens translocate effector proteins across the plasma membrane into the plant cytoplasm. The blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae secretes cytoplasmic effectors into a specialized biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC) before translocation. Here we show that …
WebFeb 12, 2024 · Cytoplasmic effectors, such as Pwl2, Bas1, and AvrPiz‐t, preferentially accumulate in the biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC). In contrast, apoplastic effectors, such as Bas4, Slp1, and Avr1‐CO39, are secreted into the extra‐invasive hyphal membrane (EIHM), following the conventional ER‐Golgi secretory pathway (Giraldo et al., 2013 ... WebMar 21, 2024 · BIC, biotrophic interfacial complex; EIHM, extra-invasive hyphae membrane; IH, invasive hypha; NPC, nuclear pore complex; ROS, reactive oxygen species. Apoplastic effectors are secreted into the interfacial space between the pathogen and plant cells, wherein “chemical warfare” occurs (Doehlemann & Hemetsberger, 2013).
Webtors in a host–pathogen biotrophic interfacial space around the neck of the primary invasive hyphae beneath the appressoria in its host plants, cucumber and melon.9,10 The observed effector localization in C. orbiculare is distinct from the BIC detected in M. oryzae, which suggests potential diversity in host–pathogen Webdevelopment of the biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC), a struc-ture that accumulates fluorescently labeled effectors secreted by invasive hyphae (IH). The examined BIC-localized secreted proteins were translocated into rice cytoplasm. By contrast, a PLoS Pathogens www.plospathogens.org 1 May 2012 Volume 8 Issue 5 e1002711
WebJul 1, 2016 · Moreover, high-resolution imaging of the biotrophic interfacial complex (BIC) revealed that the host cytosol accumulates at the BIC together with host-derived membranes excluding the vacuolar membrane. A symplastic effector was detected in a punctate localization pattern enclosed by the membranes.
